Dr. Patricia Allen's book was recommended to me by a psychologist, not so much to help me get to marriage since I am already married, but more so to understand the dynamic interplay between men and women, and their male and female energies.
Dr. Allen shares that while you may be a biological man or a woman, your energetic presentation could either be male or female. Women can have a dominant male energy or female energy, and vice versa for men. This impacts how you show up in your relationships. Understanding what your dominant energy is doesn't downplay your secondary energetic presentation, but helps you to understand how you can form closer and more loving relationships with your significant other by simply understanding how each of your energetic presentations, whether male or female, impacts your attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. Above all your male/female energy impacts your expectations of each other and helps you create a greater understanding of each others needs.
Female energies wish to be cherished, while male energies want to be respected for their thoughts. Having this valuable knowledge offers the ability for the partner to understand what he can do to help you feel special and appreciated, and conversely for you to meet your partner in the middle by knowing how you can ensure he is appreciated or feels special in return. It's that simple and yes, that powerful when you know what makes each other "tick".
Dr. Allen goes on to share that male-male combinations and female-female combinations, on average, don't always work well together because the 'ying and yang' balance is not present. Male-male combinations typically result in stress and arguments, while female-female combinations result in lack of movement or momentum in the relationship. The most successful relationships have male-female energetic combinations and makes for an ideal balance, resulting in momentum, support and higher relationship satisfaction.
I recommend Dr. Allen's book for a deeper understanding of your current relationship or are looking to find true love and life-long partnership.
